Catalent Pharma Solutions, a leading provider of advanced technologies and outsourced clinical services to the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, will be the premium sponsor of La Jolla Drug Development Day on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. This year’s event, produced by Biotech Vendor Services, Inc., will be the sixth annual La Jolla Biotech Day, and will focus on products, technologies and services that aid companies through the drug development process.

The day will include panels of industry leading experts drawn from the San Diego area. Ana Menendez, Ph.D, senior director of biotechnology at Catalent, will give a presentation titled “Revised USP 111: A Valuable Tool to Expedite Your GMP Bioassay.” Dr. Menendez is a member of Catalent’s Respiratory, Analytical and Biotechnology group that has a facility in San Diego.

“As an active member of the San Diego biotechnology and drug development community, we’re pleased to assume a leadership role in helping Biotech Vendor Services bring this event to the local biotechnology community,” said Richard Bunnell, general manager of Catalent’s San Diego Trade Place facility. “Catalent believes in building and maintaining strong local relationships in order to strengthen our company and the communities in which we live. Through the sponsorship and support of community events, we aim to expand our efforts in the local community, and inspire developmental science in healthcare.”

Last year’s La Jolla Biotech Day had more than 350 attendees representing 200 different companies and institutes. The area’s life science companies will be in attendance to learn about the industry’s latest technologies and services from exhibiting suppliers.
