Hate the bench, but love to write?

Have you decided that a career in academia is not for you, but you can't leave science behind for good?

Do you have an idea for an article and don't know the first thing about getting it published?

Are you a professional science writer willing to share your experiences with a group of over-eager youngsters?

If so, you've come to the right place! Talk about your inspirations, aspirations or simply your lack of motivation. Get answers to those burning questions like:

How do you write a pitch letter?
Where can I publish without having any previous clippings?
Does anyone know someone I could interview about diatoms?

Welcome to the San Diego Science Writers group!

Student Spokesperons / Scholarships

The Nanotechnology Research Foundation (NRF) is seeking one young man and one young woman, ages 15-20 to become spokespersons for our organization on a volunteer basis and with the potential of securing total or partial funds towards a scholarship for a college or university of their choice.

The Spring 2009 Scholarship Challenge is NRF’s first awareness and educational campaign with a national fundraising effort as an important part of this event. Our student spokespersons will be leading the way by sharing their stories, goals and dreams, meanwhile educating and bringing awareness to other students, parents, teachers and general public.

Volunteer Press Release Writer Needed ASAP

The NRF is working on several projects and needs to start going public on a national scale.

He/she needs a background in writing within a public relations environment, ideally with a scientific approach. This person would be responsible to be writing articles for NRF on an ongoing basis. Articles would be published in technical and non-technical publications. In addition to their resume, they would need to submit samples of their work to be considered.

If interested please contact HR at:
shilpi.ray@nanoresearchfoundation.org

Thank you for your support and have a great weekend!!
