I'm not much of a science geek..i guess i can do math easily but it doesn't really interest me...but biology/environmental science is superb. i'm not making a career out of it or anything b/c i'm just not that kind of person...,,, but i was wondering if there was a way i could change the world...even if i'm not the smartest in technology/math/science(i don't like storing too much math in my head at once...but i can do a little at a time...lol)
I do like public speaking.:)

Student Spokesperons / Scholarships

The Nanotechnology Research Foundation (NRF) is seeking one young man and one young woman, ages 15-20 to become spokespersons for our organization on a volunteer basis and with the potential of securing total or partial funds towards a scholarship for a college or university of their choice.

The Spring 2009 Scholarship Challenge is NRF’s first awareness and educational campaign with a national fundraising effort as an important part of this event. Our student spokespersons will be leading the way by sharing their stories, goals and dreams, meanwhile educating and bringing awareness to other students, parents, teachers and general public.

I would like to start a discussion on this board that I have previously had at the University of Minnesota. I am interested in the role that scientific information and the dissemination of such information can have on conservations behavior. Particularly, utilizing persuasive messaging as a tool to initiate behavioral changes in individuals. Thus my questions to the board are these: What role, if any, do we as scientists have as advocates (particularly in educational institutions)? Are there ethical concerns that we have with using scientific information in persuasive messaging and persuasion research?

Born from a clear need to unite environmentally-oriented researchers, investors, politicians, leaders and community members, The Green Innovation Network's goals include encouraging the development of environmentally-friendly innovation, be it concrete or abstract.

Our first event will be part of The Green Innovation Tour, a series of adult field-trips to see green innovative technology, building design, implemented abstract concepts, research, etc.

The first event will be a guided tour of the Miramar Recycling Center. Following that will be a trip to Envirepel Energy, Inc's plant, an alternative waste disposal plant that converts trash to energy at 96% efficiency.

Stay tuned for the unveiling of our webpage and the details regarding the recycling plant trip in the very near future.

Lastly, as you are all key players in the network, please utilize this comment area or discussion board to suggest Green Innovation Tour trips or other activities you would like to see, or just contact me directly.

Best Au Naturel,
Valerie
