Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp Quarter
2/16/10

Gaslamp Quarter Association
Location: Gaslamp Quarter
Description: Sixteen years of beads, booze and debauchery have culminated into the most slamming Sweet Sixteen party in history!

Sixteen years of beads, booze and debauchery have culminated into the most slamming Sweet Sixteen party in history! That’s right, on Fat Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 6:00 PM to Midnight the Gaslamp Quarter brings you a Mardi Gras celebration with all the irreverence of the French Quarter and all the hot Southern California action you’ve come to expect! Every block from E Street to J Street will throw its own smoking celebration for seven stages of entertainment, cool lounges, street performers, carnival action, super sexy go-go dancers and DJ’s, and of course the crown jewel of any Mardi Gras celebration TWO parades of floats, live music, animated processions and those coveted beads, beads, beads!

You heard right, every street is throwing its own party for seven interactive areas of entertainment. The party gets started on E Street where the beats meet the street and thirty hip-hop dancers along with killer DJ’s turning up the heat and invite you to show your own moves. F Street takes “Sweet Sixteen” to a whole new level with “Candy Lane”, it’s an all pink, girl party complete with lollipop lights and candy inspired gobos to light up the smoking hot go-go dancers and the all girl DJ line up featuring some of the sweetest record spinners in the business. G Street goes old school with an “All Skate”. We did say we were doing it all with a So Cal flair, so the San Diego Derby Dolls will show their skills on wheels. On Fat Tuesday, Market Street will be a circus; literally. Ariel artists, Vaudeville & fire performers, belly dancers and the Zirk UBU Circus Crew will amaze and perform to the techno beats of live DJ’s and Gypsy Jazz. Island Street will be filled with all the lights, sounds and action of a full-fledged carnival complete with games and prizes! And finally, “laissez les bon temps” over on J Street at the “Crazy Cajun Riverboat”! Enjoy interactive action, and bayou themed entertainment.  As you visit each lively area, be sure to enjoy an ice cold Bud Light brew and throw some beads their way for being the Exclusive Beer / Malt Beverage Sponsor of everyone’s favorite Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp!

No matter where you choose to party N’awlins style, make sure you have your feet firmly planted on 5th Avenues at 7:30 PM for a Mardi Gras Parade to rival the best! Dozens of colorful, creative and explosive floats will sail down the main parade route filled with dancers and partygoers blasting music and throwing those uber coveted beads! But this ain’t no ordinary Mardi Gras so we’re doing a second parade at 10:00 PM for double the decadence!

Mardi Gras will encompass the entire Gaslamp and then some. From Broadway to Harbor on 4th 5th and 6th Avenue there will be Mardi Gras madness and street partying like you’ve never seen. The Main Gates are located at 5th and Broadway and at 6th and K Street. Tickets to the Sweet Sixteen of the century party are just $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the event. Your ticket not only gets you into all the action of the seven interactive areas of entertainment, DJ’s, dancers, lights and performers, but you can also visit all of the amazing restaurants, urban nightclubs and classic bars & pubs that the Gaslamp Quarter is famous for! For tickets or more information, visit www.gaslamp.org or call McFarlane Promotions at 619.233.5008.
