About Me:
I am a graduate student in Tracy Johnson's lab in the Division of Biological Sciences at UCSD.
I'm originally from St. Louis, but I went to Amherst College in Massachusetts for my BA and worked in Craig Hunter's lab at Harvard for two years thereafter (which explains my allegiance to the Red Sox).
Someday, I would love to have a lab and teach at a small liberal arts college, like Amherst. In the meantime, I love being involved in outreach. I am on the Association for Women in Science Outreach committee, and help with the Salk Mobile Sciences Lab and BioBridge events whenever I can.
Recently, I co-founded a group called BioEASI (www.BioEASI.org) that aims to enhance the lines of communication between scientists and the general public through art. We regularly host art-making happy hours for scientists at the Salk, UCSD and SIO, and will display this art at the San Diego Science Festival expo next April.
When I'm not doing science stuff, I'm running the campus loop with my crew.

The reason I ask is because I was thinking of doing a MolBio/Molecular Structure art show with a couple groups at TSRI and UCSD. I haven't formalized this with the science festival group and I didn't realize there was another art/science group in progress. If you're early in the process I was wondering if we might be able to collaborate. I am talking to a few galleries in downtown La Jolla. If you want to email me feel free:
